As I told you, the US Embassy has undertaken to ask the DoJ for more information about VTECH. From a practical point of view, we cannot write to the company until we have an address. I would be grateful, however, if
if you would ensure that the Hong Kong government takes no further action in the meantime. If we do decide that a letter to the company should come from Hong Kong, then this will have to be a letter that we have drafted, and which has been cleared in advance in the usual way. For this reason, the form of words above should not be taken as a final text that might be sent to VTECH.
I hope that this serves to allay the fears of the Hong Kong Government.
