The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has informed the Department that it has commenced an investigation of the proposed acquisition by Semi-Tech (Global) Company Limited, a Hong Kong company, of 51 of the stock of G.M. Pfaff AG, a German company. The FTC is examining the transaction to determine if the acquisition violates the provisions of Section 7 of the Clayton Act and/or Section 5 of the FTC Act. The product market involved is sewing machines. The FTC staff will contact the parties and request the production of documents and other information.
This information is provided in accordance with the 1986 OECD recommendation on Notification of Restrictive Business Practices Investigations, and the Shenefield/Pliatzky Agreement of 1977.
