The Department of State has been informed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that the Antitrust Division is conducting a civil investigation into allegations of monopolization and agreements in restraint of trade, in the sale of and the licensing of personal computer operating system hardware products and graphical user interface software products, by Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, Washington.
In connection with the investigation, the Department of Justice contemplates contacting the VTECH Company, located in Hong Kong, to request that they provide information on a voluntary basis.
We are providing this notification in accordance with the 1986 OECD Recommendation on Notification of Restrictive Business Practices Investigations, and the Shenefield/Pliatzky Agreement of 1977.
