In general, UK assistance for Vietnamese immigrants in Hong
Kong is attributed to ODA's Vietnam programme, this assistance
will therefore remain unaffected by any change to the DAC list.
5. But, would the UNHCR still be able to give aid to Vietnamese
refugees in Hong Kong if Hong Kong's status as a developing country changed? And similarly would other donors' still be able to contribute to the UNHCR programme in Hong Kong if it was no longer on the DAC list? I should be grateful to Mr Cardy if he
would pursue this point with UKMIS Geneva and let me have his
comments in due course.
