2. Keith MacInnnes raised the question of Hong Kong and the Trade Committee at yesterday's EC Ambassadors' lunch. The only reaction was from the Greek who said that his Government would like to see Cyprus attending the Maritime Transport Committee!

Before Keith MacInnes raised Hong Kong the EC Commission Ambassador had made a general point about too many OECD members pushing their proteges, eg US/Mexico, Japan/Korea, Japan/China. You may draw what conclusions you like from the fact that none of his examples involved EC members and the CEECs!
