On the whole, the Seminar raised the level of understanding of the importance of the link in providing stability to Hong Kong. The problems of monetary management in Hong Kong were also widely discussed. There was overall support, particularly from the experts, including Milton Friedman, for maintaining the link. It can be concluded that the Seminar was a success in promoting public understanding of monetary issues in Hong Kong and internationally and in the commitment of the government to the link as the key anchor to monetary stability.
