HONORABLE CHRISTOPHER PATTEN

Governor, HongKong

c/o Ambassador Allan Montgomery

British Embassy

July 21, 1993

Locsin Bldg., Makati Ave., M.M.

Dear Governor Patten:

On behalf of the officers and members of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), we would like to invite you to be our Guest Speaker at our forthcoming 19th Annual Philippine Business Conference to be held in Manila on December 13-15, 1993.

The Philippine Business Conference is the most important and most well-attended Dialogue-Consul- tation between members of the business community and government officials in the Philippines as well as other neighboring Asian nations.

We have followed a tradition of inviting internationally renowned business leaders and foreign govern- ment heads as guests of honor and keynote speakers. Last year, we had Singapore's Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew deliver a talk on how to break up business monopolies.

---

This year's Conference Theme is "Getting Our Act Together Towards AFTA". Your knowledge and expertise on successful linkages between public and private entities as well as government and business is not only appropriate but also timely.

The Philippines is at a point where it has the opportunity to adopt a sound national economic management program. Your message would not only serve as an informational tool but also as a shining example for all our government policymakers, young entrepreneurs, and business leaders that only through genuine participation and cooperation, can we "get our act together".

We would be pleased to make suitable transportation and hotel arrangements for you for your journey to our country and back to HongKong. In addition, an appointment with President Fidel V. Ramos, Senate President Edgardo Angara, House Speaker Jose de Venecia and top Philippine business leaders can be arranged once you decide to accept our invitation.

We shall be deeply honored by your acceptance.

MENARDO R. JIMENEZ

Chairman, 19th PBC

Very truly yours,

JOSE T. PARDO

President
