In your TUR, you suggested that we should pencil in dates for OPD (K) in mid-late October, and in early November, and, decide which to go for in the light of the Foreign Ministers' meeting.

2. We have been doing some investigation. The No 10 diary is already hopelessly crowded for October. They can, however, offer us two possible slots during your visit here: 1130 on Wednesday 10 Nov (ie between the PM's speech at the Hong Kong conference and the lunch) or sometime on the afternoon of 9 Nov, on the assumption that the prorogation of Parliament takes place in the morning.

3. The 10 Nov date is better for the Secretary of State. I suggest that we go for this before the slot gets preempted. If it turns out that it is essential to have a meeting at an earlier date, then we shall just have to exercise force majeure at the time. Would you be content with that?
