said they were regarded as less bureaucratic than other
DFIS. Three Posts commented that CDC could not provide
loans on terms as soft as other institutions.
Question 14
Are you satisfied that CDC consult you adequately about
their proposed investments?
Almost all Posts felt that
consultation by CDC was
adequate, though one or two said they were informed of
CDC's proposals rather than consulted about them and would
have liked more contact with London (rather than with the
local CDC representative) over some specific projects. One
Post regretted that CDC had not taken them into their
confidence more fully about their future strategy when
beginning a new programme.
Question 15
Is there scope for CDC to have a higher level of
investments in your country?
Most Posts said there was scope for more CDC investments
and added that CDC was actively seeking them. Constraints
included the economic circumstances of the recipient
country, limited opportunities especially in the private
sector, and high risks in some areas, and past payment
problems.
