COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION (CPA) UK BRANCH

I understand from the CPA UK Branch that the delegation visiting Hong Kong from 9 13 August will not be able to call on the Governor since he will be away at that time. (My letter of 24 March refers).

I have therefore been asked by the UK Branch to look into the possibility of another of their delegations seeing the Governor (on 23 or 24 November) whilst they pass through Hong Kong on the way back from Australia. The MPS are (delegation leader) Sir Richard Body (Con), Mr Roland Boyes (Lab), Mr Stephen Day (Con), Mr Norman Hogg (Lab), Mr Christopher Smith (Lab) and Sir Jerry Wiggin (Con). They are currently scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong on 22 November at 1655 hrs (flight QF 027 from Sydney) and depart at 2240 hrs on 24 November (flight BA 028 to London).

Theirs is not an official visit to Hong Kong, but the UK Branch has decided to write to the Hong Kong Government Office here in London to see if a small programme can be arranged on 23 or 24 November (probably a visit to Parliament House). Any assistance you can give to arrange a call on the Governor would be most welcome. Please therefore feel free to liaise with the Hong Kong Government offices here if you wish.

I am copying this letter to S Day at the Trade Commission Offices to keep him in the picture too and look forward to hearing from you in due course.
