JUDICIAL OFFICERS (TENURE OF OFFICE) ORDINANCE: AMENDMENTS TO THE LETTERS PATENT

1. I would like to advise you that:

(i) The Hong Kong Letters Patent 1993 (No 2) were made on 17 September 1993. A copy of the Letters Patent is attached.

(ii) I understand that you will arrange for the Letters Patent to come into operation by publication in the HKG Gazette at the same time as the Judicial Officers (Tenure of Office) Ordinace comes into operation.

2. The Secretary of State approved on 9 September an amendment to Regulation 54 (6) and a consequential amendment to Regulation 65 of Appendix II to part 1 of the Colonial Regulations (copy attached); and has agreed that the Governor may amend paragraph 3(1) and delete paragraph 3(2) of the Disciplinary Procedures (Colonial Regulations). These changes should come into operation at the same time as the Letters Patent and Ordinance.
