Re: Postponement of Meeting
First of all, we must thank you for agreeing to meet us on April 23, 1993 at such short notice. However, we regret to inform you that our visit to England has to be postponed. We are very sorry and we apologise for all the inconvenience caused.
It is most unfortunate that the schedule, which the Hong Kong Legislative Council (London Office) kindly arranged for us, clashes with a Legislative Council Meeting which I have already tabled a motion for debate. Under such circumstances, we have no choice but to postpone our trip.
We are very impressed by your concern for the future development of Hong Kong. We really look forward to sharing our views with you. As we firmly believe that meeting you in person will definitely help to let Hong Kong people's voice be heard loud and clear with the British government, we are trying hard to make such a trip a reality as soon as possible, hopefully around mid-May. We would let you know immediately when we have the dates confirmed. We look forward to the opportunities of meeting you then.
Furthermore, we are going to send you a copy of our Proposal on political Reform on Hong Kong for your reference.
Let us convey our apologies once again for having to postpone our meeting and we thank you so much for your kind attention.
