Recognise the contribution made to Hong Kong by this sector of the community.
Their future in Hong Kong is secure. Their continued right of
abode there is protected under the Joint Declaration and the Basic Law. Neither they nor their children nor grandchildren
will be stateless. Their eligibility for consular protection
continues after 1997.
The British Government stands by its undertaking to consider
their case for admission to the United Kingdom with particular
sympathy if, contrary to expectation, they were in future to
come under severe pressure to leave Hong Kong.
Wives and Widows of Ex-Servicemen
- Home Secretary has given undertaking that such persons may settle in the UK at any time.
