SUM, UNITED DEMOCRATS OF HONG KONG, 27 JULY (11.00-11.30)

Action Takan
Mr Martin Lee and Dr Yeung Sum, Leader and Deputy Leader of
the United Democrats of Hong Kong, are visiting London,
23-27 July. They are seeing Mr Goodlad at 10.30 on 27 July and the Secretary of State immediately thereafter. They will have
had informal drinks with the Minister the previous evening.
2.
I submit the following briefing for their call on the
Secretary of State:-
a few short lines to take
personality notes on Mr Lee and Dr Yeung
- a copy of their programme in London
The same briefing is being provided for Mr Goodlad, plus an
additional line on Nationality issues.
3.
The essential purpose of this visit is to maintain pressure
on us not to make concessions in our talks with China on Hong
Kong election arrangements which the UDHK would regard as
lee.sos.PR
