One is economic: the Chinese say they want to safeguard Hong Kong's prosperity. We hope they will put that into practice by agreeing soon on the financing package for the new Airport, and on Container Terminal 9.
Another is in the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group.
Technical but essential work to ensure continuity in laws,
agreement between Hong Kong and other countries on Air
Services, Investment Protection etc. No British axe to
grind. But current snail's pace will leave gaps in 1997 in important fields.
