Dear Edward,
HILB 011/6/2
FAC EVIDENCE SESSION, 8 DECEMBER:
1.
POSSIBLE PRESS QUERIES
As you will no doubt see from the Hong Kong press, Sir Percy unfurled his poisoned umbrella at today's FAC session. I attach a copy of my submission proposing a line for use in response to press queries about his criticisms.
2. There was no briefing session for diplomatic correspondents today, but Robert Culshaw will be able to deploy the line at the session on 9 December. News Department have so far used it in responding to questions from the FT and Ming Pao.
3.
When we have the transcript of the session and can confirm precisely what he said, we shall consider what more need be done to set the record straight.
Yan ever, Joh
