FAC EVIDENCE SESSION
Thank you for your letter of 30 November. The Secretary of State thinks that the Governor is right to accept the invitation from the Foreign Affairs Committee to give evidence in January. He agrees with the Governor that it would be helpful, if it is convenient, for the Governor to give evidence before 25 January. This would enable the Secretary of State to draw a line under the FCO contribution to the Committee's report.
Depending upon his other commitments, the Governor might offer to give evidence on 24 January, but there would be some advantage in doing this in the week of 17 January so as to give officials time to prepare material on possible follow-up questions before 25 January.
