BRITISH NATIONALITY (HONG KONG) ACT 1990
What are the arrangements for the second tranche?
These are set out in the British Nationality (Hong Kong) (Selection Scheme) (Amendment) Order 1993. Applications under the second tranche will be received from 3 January to 3 April
1994.
How many places will be allocated under the second tranche?
About 11,500.
In what ways will the terms of the second tranche of the
Selection Scheme differ from those of the first?
- The adjustments made by the new Order are relatively minor and have been made in the light of experience in the first tranche. The general aim is to facilitate the allocation of remaining places. The Order provides for places to be transferred from categories which have proved under-subscribed to groups where they will be used. Any transfers will take place in a one-off exercise on a date to be specified by the Governor.
Will there by any further tranches?
No. The second will be the last. Less than one fifth of the
places will be allocated under the second tranche; too few to warrant further phases. There would in any case be too little time left for another phase after the second tranche applications have been processed.
