PROPOSED ENQUIRY INTO HONG KONG BY THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
(FAC)
Problem
1. The Foreign Affairs Committee want to give high priority in 1993 to an enquiry into Hong Kong. They are thinking of
visiting Hong Kong in June. How to respond to the Clerk of the Committee on the question of timing.
Recommendation
2.
We have consulted the Governor, who welcomes the enquiry but
thinks June would not be an ideal time for an FAC visit to
A Hong Kong. (Hong Kong telno 92.) He would prefer a visit in the
autumn. I recommend that we propose an autumn visit to the
Clerk of the Committee.
