1. We have now been able to speak to Dr Cunningham's office. He has no present plans to visit China and Hong Kong.

Maastricht and the need to find the cost of the

airfare prevent him from taking up Ambassador Ma's invitation as originally issued. However, he met the Governor last week who pressed him to visit Hong Kong when he could and it is possible that the visit will be reinstated for some time during the summer

recess.
