DEBATE ON THE MOTION FOR THE WHITSUN ADJOURNMENT

The debate on the motion for the Whitsun Adjournment will be the first item of business on Tuesday 18 May. It
The Leader of the House (Mr Newton) has asked for briefing material for use in winding up the debate.
3pm will last for 3 hours.

Briefing is required on only a few topical issues, and these are shown on the attached list. Could you please check the subject of concern to your Department, and let me have a short line to take and background note by 3.00 pm on Friday 14 May.
3. The line to take and the background note should be on no more than one side of A4 paper; the format should be the same as the layout used for Early Day Motions (example attached).

In view of the short list of topics, the Leader's Office has asked for a list of "stand by" briefers from Departments to be available on the telephone up until about 7.30 pm on Tuesday evening. I should be grateful if all Departments, including those providing briefing, could let me have the name of a member of the Department who could provide a line to take if required.
