ne chapter on the Airport Agreement. In the first, the word
'briefly' in the penultimate paragraph is removed. The sentence now
reads: 'The policy they embody, that of co-operatiom with China in
the interests of Hong Kong, has itself come under increasing
question, so much So that in very recent times another course
altogether has been attempted.' In the second, on page 339 I shall
probably have to delete the reference to negotiations on the airport
continuing.
Could I ask for your comments by 13 December? I realise that this
is a terribly tight timetable and that you have many more important
things to do on the subject of Hong Kong, not to speak of other
matters. But I have to deliver the corrected proofs to the printers
later in the same week. I have not yet had sight of them. I am also
committed to submit a revision of the text to you. All I can say is
that this is positively the last round.
I am sending a copy of this letter and enclosure to David
Gillmore.
