STRICTLY PERSONAL FOR GOVERNOR FROM HUM, AUSS

SIR PERCY CRADOCK'S MEMOIRS

1.

I understand that Mr Goodlad mentioned to you on the telephone this week that the Cabinet Office have sent us Sir Percy Cradock's memoirs about his experiences in China for checking against the rules governing publication of memoirs by former public servants - the so-called Radcliffe rules.

We have been studying these memoirs over the last few days. I wanted to let you know that Sir John Coles plans to discuss with you while he is in Hong Kong the advice which we are proposing to submit to the Cabinet Office.
