Sir Percy Cradock ́s Memoirs

Many thanks for your letter of 6 December about the revised final chapter of Percy Cradock's book on Hong Kong.

I am content with the course you propose. I shall be very grateful if John Coles would see Percy Cradock and press on him the points you have identified. It seems to me that this is not so much a question of the Radcliffe principles any more but of a recent insider and a Privy Counsellor damaging the prospects for very important negotiations by the British Government. I hope that John Coles will lay it on thick.
