Dear Joverner,
London SWIA 2AH
Alastair Goodlad told me yesterday that you were
disturbed that you had not been told about
1.
Sir Percy Cradock's plan to visit Peking next month. I
thought I should let you have a personal note about this.
2.
Percy Cradock invited me to lunch on 4 February.
I spent a good part of it making it plain that I
disapproved of the line he proposed to take on a BBC
programme planned for March (which in the event was never
produced). I enclose a copy of the minute I wrote
about this the same day. The Secretary of State
subsequently approved the line I had taken.
