CODE 18-77
Mr Ricketts
APPOINTMENT OF A JUSTICE OF APPEAL AND TWO HIGH COURT JUDGES
1.
The Secretary of State's approval is required for the appointments of:
Mr Justice Bokhary as a Justice of Appeal
Mr Michael Stuart-Moore as a Judge of the High Court
Mr Anthony G Rogers as a Judge of the High Court.
2.
In 1991 Miss Coglin and Mr Cox agreed (copy of minute attached) that the Secretary of State should only personally approve the appointment of the Chief Secretary and the Chief Justice. A desk officer/Head of Department/AUS could convey the Secretary of State's approval for all other appointments depending on the level involved. If you are happy to proceed on this basis, then I would be grateful if you could approve the attached telegram conveying the Secretary of State's approval. Miss Brooks has been consulted and supports the candidates.
