1. I attach a copy of a letter from the Supreme Court in Hong Kong asking for the Secretary of State's approval for the appointment of Mr Jerome Chan Chung-hung as a High Court Judge.

2. The appointment has been recommended by the Judicial Services Commission and approved by the Governor. As usual, I would be grateful for your opinion before we convey the Secretary of State's approval.
