wish to note from Annex I that the number retired officers by 1.7.97 listed in the above paragraph is based on different retirement

Certainly, the introduction of the HMOCS Compensation Scheme will lead some officers to switch to the new pension scheme (NPS). It would be difficult to tell at this stage how шапу of the officers will actually switch to NPS until

deadline as there would be many factors (apart from the benefits of the compensation scheme) which these officers will take into account in their decision. addition there will be some officers (such as Messrs Parkes and Mackley) who opt to retire between the ages of 50 and 55 between now and 1997. In view of the above, it may be prudent to work out different scenarios for calculation based on different assumptions in respect of the ratio of officers who of 55 and 60 years. However it is very difficult to guess what these assumptions might be.
