HMOCS Arrangements

Statement on behalf of the Secretary of State

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has now set final deadlines for effecting transfer to the permanent establishment, application for Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service (HMOCS) and the buying back of pensionable service for the purpose of any HMOCS arrangements. A copy of the Statement from the Secretary of State dated 19 January 1993 is attached.

Most of the deadlines apply only to officers who applied for ppe terms just before the 30 June 1992 deadline and who are now in

the process of transferring to ppe and joining HMOCS.

However

deadline for bought back service counting for any HMOCS compensation purposes, as stipulated in paragraphs 5 to 7 of the Statement, is of importance to those serving HMOCS officers who transferred to ppe terms some time ago and still have a option to buy back such service for pension purposes.

Should you

be eligible and wish to buy back pensionable service before the deadline of 30 April 1993, please apply to the Secretary for the Civil Service through your head of Department as soon as possible.
