HMOCS: ARRANGEMENTS FOR OFFICERS TRANSFERRING FROM CONTRACT TO PENSIONABLE SERVICE AND TO HMOCS STATUS

1.

i)

The Secretary of State has decided that:

The closing date for applications from officers in the service of Hong Kong for membership of HMOCS will be 28 February 1993.

ii) Officers whose applications for transfer to pensionable terms have been approved must commence buying back service before or on 30 April 1993 if they wish bought back service to count as pensionable service under any HMG compensation scheme for HMOCS officers.

iii) Certain Judicial officers will be required to sign an irrevocable undertaking before or on 30 April 1993, to buy back such contract service as they wish to convert to pensionable service to count as pensionable service under any HMG compensation scheme for HMOCS officers.

iv) Officers in ii) and iii) above must have completed buying back such contract service as they wish to count as pensionable service for the purposes of any HMG compensation scheme before the appointed day for the compensation scheme.

v)

Applications from officers in the service of Hong Kong for membership fo HMOCS will not be considered unless the officer concerned has transferred to pensionable terms by 30 April 1993.

Set out in MIFT is the text of a statement on behalf of the Secretary of State on these issues. We would be very grateful if you could arrange for this statement to be made available to all officers who might be affected by its contents and also to the HMOCS Association and other Associations whose members should be aware of its contents.
