Thank you for this report on the meeting on 23 March. We would be grateful to be kept in touch with the Administration's thinking on the handling of any interdiction. We hope that the State Department/NSC are aware that any proposal to interdict in Hong Kong waters would need to be considered by British Ministers and the Governor. We would not (not) want to be bounced with a request at very short notice, given the possible complicating effect on our relations with China over Hong Kong, which are already bad enough.
