TMR: RESOURCE QUESTIONNAIRE FOR THE CHINA TRADE UNIT (CTU) HONG KONG

Although strictly the CTU forms part of the Embassy in Peking,

I have in practice it operates as an extension of the BTC: therefore agreed with Philip McLean that I will submit a separate TMR questionnaire for the Unit.

ADEST

The confidential annex giving the authorised UK-based establishment of the CTU is inaccurate. John Ashton, DS5 Deputy Political Adviser, is curiously included, as is an additional DS6 post (listed as vacant at present) and a DS9 management post (we are bidding now for a DS9 commercial post for the CTU, but not for a management post). To add to the confusion, half of John Tuke's time - the DS10 until recently in charge of the BDSMO - is charged to CTU registry work (the CTU and BTC classified and unclassified registries are fully
