In the event of the decision being taken to reinforce the British Forces in Hong Kong from the UK by the implementation of JTP 30 it is certain that there will be international media interest, but there are no plans for a media party to accompany the Reinforcing Forces from the United Kingdom. is also certain that no more than the preliminary contingency planning will escape the knowledge of the media.

As soon as any ships, troops or units are warned, Public Relations planning must proceed, assuming that the media are aware that some form of reinforcement is contemplated.

Policy for Public Relations will be agreed in MOD in consultation with the FCO, Cabinet Office and 10 Downing Street, and guidance and instructions will be issued to PR staffs by the Press Secretary and Chief of Information.
