REINFORCEMENT OF HONG KONG

USING CHARTERED CIVIL AIRCRAFT

INTRODUCTION

The reinforcement plan provides for the deployment of reinforcements from Brunei or the UK to Hong Kong by either:

1.

a.

RAF transport aircraft which are in the area and can be diverted for the task, or which could be despatched from the UK for this purpose.

b.

Kong.

2. In the event of JTP 30 being implemented the airlift would be activated by HQ BF Hong Kong on the authority of the Chiefs of Staff. If no suitable RAF transport aircraft are available, the procurement of civil aircraft would be undertaken as follows:

a.

Far East Based Aircraft.

(1) CCO (FE) (RAF), as D Log Ops (RAF)'s representative in the Far East, will identify suitable aircraft (if available), arrange for the preparation of the Statement of Requirement and the necessary financial approval, before passing the details to Log Ops (Contracts Branch) (RAF) (Log Ops (CB) (RAF)).

Log Ops (CB) (RAF) Invitations to Tender concerned.

(ITT) to the airline(s)

(3) Details of the contracted airline(s) will be passed by Log Ops (CB) (RAF) to CCO (FE) (RAF) and Head of the Air Resources Section (Hd ARS) in DOMS.

UK Based Aircraft.

(1) Log Ops (CB) (RAF) will, on behalf of DOMS, ITTS to airline(s).
