A4. We have kept the Chinese informed of our plans as they

have evolved. We have reiterated our commitment to maintain

stability during the transition period and to carry out a

smooth transfer of defence responsibilities.

Given their interest in the Brigade of Gurkhas, both the

Nepalese and Brunei governments were informed of our plans.
