to the media a report by the Comptroller

Auditor General, presented to the House of Commons Public

Accounts Committee, highlighted a number of areas where

public money was inappropriately expended on entertainment

and social activities.

It would be helpful if HKG could be given as policy statement on provision of recreational and

sporting facilities, and organisation of social activities

and entertainment, for the Garrison.

funded under the Hong Kong DCA. If so, please provide details.

How much is being spent in 1992-93 for Garrison

entertainment, and on social recreational arc

sporting activities.

Are there any outside club memberships currently

held by military personnel which were originally

acquired, or are being maintained, at Garrisc=

expense.

If answer to (c) is affirmative, please advise the

number, the name of the club, the benefits, the

rank of officer eligible and other criteria, and

total cost to the DCA in 1992-93. What is the

value of debentures held.
