C. paragraph 10a mentions the fact that Army LEP will become non-effective at the end of 1996. What are the plans for RN LEP? Perhaps HQBF could help and provide an appropriate sentence.
d. I should be grateful for any comments from DNO and Head of Sec (NS) on the prospects for a CVS task group deployment to the Far East in 1997. What assumptions and financial provisions have been made?
3. On handling, there will be no separate two star clearance: the next step will be submission to SECCOs for circulation to the COS for clearance out of committee. Could I ask you therefore to ensure that in clearing and/or commenting on the attached draft, views of the relevant two star have been taken into account. Could I also ask that comments should bear in mind the need to keep the paper short and unencumbered with the sort of detail that will be covered in the full review. DO (FEW) will be calling on key addressees to explain more fully the relationship between this work and the review in order to ensure that important points do not fall between the cracks.
