URBAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND REGIONAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Director of Urban Services (DUS) and the Director of Regional Services (DRS) will be responsible for the maintenance of essential public health services. During an extreme emergency, they may recommend to the CS the enactment of regulations to suspend the functions of the Urban Council and the Regional Council and to invest the Councils' powers

in themselves.

If circumstances require it, the Urban Services Department and Regional Services Department will cease to carry out less essential functions (e.g. issue of licences) and concentrate on the collection and disposal of refuse (including night soil) and dead bodies, as well as essential health measures and the operation of gazetted public markets and abattoirs.
