The use of force by Marine Police launches is governed by the Laws of Hong Kong and the provisions of Police General Orders, Chapter 29. The principle of minimum force should always be applied.

Chinese ocean-going, coastal and river vessels in Hong Kong waters may be stopped, boarded and searched if there is reasonable cause to believe that they are engaged in illegal activities.

Security forces vessels are not to proceed closer than one mile from the Chinese shore line in Mirs Bay except in a life saving capacity or, in the case of Police launches, to exercise other constabulary functions.

Police and Army boats may enter Starling Inlet and Police vessels may use the waters on the immediate landward side of Ping Chau.
47.
RN vessels, with the exception of small boats, will not normally go into Deep Bay.

The Hong Kong and Shenzhen Border Liaison Officers have agreed recognition signals for use by the craft of both sides operating in the Bays but they may also be used elsewhere.

AIR SPACE
Definitions and Restrictions

For practical purposes, Hong Kong airspace is bounded on the west, east and south by the square box and on the north by the Border Limit of Flying. With the exception of international flights duly authorized by the Director of Civil Aviation, no aircraft is to cross the Border Limit of Flying.
51.
Aircraft of the RHKAAF can cross the square box at any point (other than certain areas adjacent to the Chinese coast), subject to instructions from air traffic control.
