Department (with the

assistance of Regional Services Department, Trade Department and Social Welfare Department) will in the event of a major food shortage, ensure that there is no disruption of supplies to the Security Forces and

essential workers.

Dry rations or cooked food will be supplied to units when normal commercial supplies are no longer available.

Where a unit has cooking facilities, dry rations only will be supplied (and the unit itself will be expected to provide its own cooks).

An officer from the USD will be designated Rations Officer and will co-ordinate all ration requirements.

Once the Food Unit

HQ is established, the Rations Officer will take up his post and all requests from the Security Forces etc will be passed

He will:

that there is a genuine need

and that

rations cannot be obtained

from normal sources;

find out the numbers of

staff to be

fed, the frequency and the precise location;

in the case of dry rations, pass the
