Food Supplies

28.

Staff will be fed where possible at Company Canteens. Where this is not possible, assistance will be sought from the Rations Officer of the Food Unit, (Chapter 12 Part IV).

Stores

29.

The Manager maintains such stocks of non-perishable emergency stores and materials as he may consider adequate for а period of one month. Miscellaneous stores may be obtained, if necessary, through the Government Supplies Department at cost price.

Fuel

30.

Lamma main plant. is capable of firing on either pure coal or a coal/fuel oil mix. Because the principal fuel is pure coal, the station only maintains a stock of 22,000 Te of fuel oil. The total stock of coal and fuel oil is targetted to sustain generation for six weeks at a load factor of 60%.

31.

The station also has a substantial capacity of gas

turbine generating plant utilising IGO as fuel. This plant is intended for emergency purposes and a stock of 11,000 Te of IGO is kept at site. The basis for this quantity is that the Shell Co could supply 4,000 Te within 48 hours thereafter 2,000 Te per day although there is no contractual agreement on this. This capability could be diminished under conditions of civil disturbance.

32.

Reductions in electricity demand would extend the length of time stock would last though not necessarily in direct proportion.

Communications

33.

The Administrative Headquarters of the Company is at 44, Kennedy Road, Hong Kong whilst the Operational Headquarters is located at Ap Lei Chau and contains, inter alia, the System Control Centre.
