MIPT B: CHANGES IN SENIOR HONG KONG GOVERNMENT PERSONNEL

PRESS RELEASE

The Government announced today a series of movements of personnel at senior levels of the Administration.

Mr Michael Sze Cho-cheung, ISO, JP will take over as Secretary for the Civil Service on 1 February 1994.

Mr Nicholas Ng Wing-fui, JP will take over from Mr Sze as Secretary for Constitutional Affairs on 1 February 1994.

Mr Yeung Kai-yin, CBE, JP, has resigned from the Civil Service. Having previously indicated that he intended leaving, he has been given permission to take up an appointment in the private sector with effect from 1 October 1993.

Mr Haider H.T. Barma, ISO, JP will take over from Mr Yeung as Secretary for Transport on 1 October 1993.

Mr Albert Lam Chi-chiu, JP will, on his return from the training course he is currently attending in Beijing, take over from Mr Barma in early November 1993 as Director of Urban Services.

Mr Richard Hoare OBE, JP will take over from Mr Nicholas Ng as Director of Administration in January 1994.

Mr Patrick Williamson, ISO, JP will be retiring at the end of March 1994.

Mr Peter Lo Yat-fai, JP will take over from Mr Williamson as Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the European Economic Community in Brussels at the end of March
