As there is currently no DS Grade 7 officer in Hanoi, we do not have up-to-date rates for the Indirect Representational Supplement, Rent Allowance or the Accountable Indirect Representational Supplement. The current DS8 Indirect Representational Supplement is (all figures in pounds sterling unless otherise shown) 839 (married), 589 (single).

The current rent allowance for a married or

single DS9 is US$1000 per month and US$4500 per month

for a DS5. The rent allowance for a DS7 is therefore likely to be between US$2,500-3,000 per month. The current DS8 Accountable Indirect Representational. Supplement (domestic help) is US$3913 for a married or single officer. The current Cost of Living Addition is 4488 (married) and 3198 (single); first child 1479; any other child 817.

DS7 officers in Hanoi would also receive a Diplomatic Service Allowance of 2742 (married), 1371 (single); a Difficult Post Allowance of 3556 (married), 1778 (single) and a Special Difficult Post Allowance of 2371 (married), 1185 (single).

The exchange rate of sterling to the local currency at the time of inspection was 1.4839.
