Civil Service Dependant Pension Benefits

This

circular

announces the implementation of

changes to the provision of dependant pension benefits for the Civil Service with effect from 1 February 1993.

Background

2.

In response to staff requests, a review of the full range of dependant pension benefits for the Civil Service has been conducted with a view to modernising existing provisions to meet present day needs and to remove anomalies and discriminatory provisions. These benefits

include

(a)

the dependant pension schemes

(i) the Widows' and Children's Pensions Scheme

(WCPS)

the Widows' and Orphans Pension Scheme (WOPS);

(ii)

(b)

death gratuity; and

(c)

duty-related

injury

benefits

(additional

pension) and death benefits (dependant pension).
