We are at present actively planning for the transfer of records kept by the Department to the future Hong Kong British Consulate General (HK BCG), the UK Government and the future HK SAR Government before or upon

the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region on 1 July 1997.

We

have examined the types of work and applications handled by the Department on behalf of the HMG and other Commonwealth countries. We have identified a number of documents/records relating to these types of work (which are hereinafter called UK-related records). With the exception of a few warning indexes maintained both in the computer and in paper form, they are kept either in microjacket form [denoted by the letter (M)] or in paper form [denoted by the letter (P) as follows :-
