FUTURE BRITISH CONSULATE-GENERAL AND BRITISH COUNCIL

1. Mr Newey informed the Committee of the current programme for the new British Consulate-general building project eg completion of final sketch plans (FSP's) by January 1993, start on site by middle of 1993, completion of construction late 1995 and ready for occupation by 1 July 1996. Mr Newey pointed out that the Consultants (Farrell etc) and Project Manager (Swire) are commissioned by OED and will only take action on direct instructions from OED Croydon.

2. Mr Smith presented Preliminary Sketch Plans (PSP's) drawing numbers HKBC SK04/001 to 04/011 Revision A ( dated September 1992). and highlighted the main circulation pattern for public and staff eg:

(i) Disabled lifts from H2 to Level One, from L49 to level 3 and 4 and from ground level to level 9 on British Council side; the latter lift will also be used as the internal staff lift.

(ii) Public lifts from level 1 to level 4, 6 and 7 on the Consulate-General side and from level 1 to level 9 on the British Council side.

(iii) Public escalator from ground floor level (H2) to level 1 and from L(49) to levels 3 and 4 and between ground and level one on British Council side.

(iv) Staff access from car parking to main buildings at level one and ground level on British Council side.

(v) Staff lifts from level 1 to all levels up to level 9 of the Consulate-General.
