HONG KONG: NEW CONSULATE-GENERAL AND BRITISH COUNCIL OFFICES

1. A meeting was held on Friday 24 July in Apollo. Those present were Clive Newey, Steve Whittle, Alex Smith, John Morris (HKD) and Malcolm Reading (British Council). The main aim was to agree tactics and action

with the selected Consultant Architect (Farrell & Co). It was subsequently agreed that we should discuss generally our points of concern with Farrell's at the first meeting, arranged for 30 July, and leave a paper with them detailing our concerns. The latter are reflected in Mr Reading's and Mr Smith's memos of 27 and 30 July respectively.

Mr Morris confirmed that he would co-ordinate the material etc for Press briefing. I have now sent (28/7) OED's contribution to Mr Morris.
