almost agreed with the Hong Kong Building and Lands Department. There had been a problem over the use of any space becoming surplus to the needs of the Consulate General in the future. As the Colvin House Site was being given to

us cost free the Hong Kong Government did not want us to

make any commercial profit out of it. OED were satisfied

Mr Hum concluded that the Committee endorsed OED's veaumendakian epoise of the Farrell design for the future Consulate

suljack to the tintors General. He said that OED should now prepare a submission to Ministers. Once Ministers' approval had been obtained

OED would hold intensive discussions with the architects to

refine and finalise the design. It was hoped that

construction would begin in about a year's time.
