HONG KONG: THE BRITISH CONSULATE-GENERAL

You are invited on behalf of Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth ̈Affairs to accept a commission for Outline Design Proposals (RIBA Stage C) only for the above project.

2 You are one of six Architectural Practices being invited to submit proposals. It is our intention to select one of these practices for a subsequent commission to develop the proposals up to tender stage and beyond. The selection will be by senior members of the FCO including professional staff of the Overseas Estate Department, external advisers and members of the BTC in Hong Kong, coordinated by myself.

3 The total budget for this project, at first quarter 1992 prices, is £22.5 million including furniture and fees.

4 The Consulate-General must be ready for occupation in November 1995.

5 The brief for this project is enclosed with this letter. Details of the submission which you are to provide are given in Annex A to this letter, and of the programme in Annex B.

6 You are free to select Engineering and Quantity Surveying consultants for the preparation of your proposals and they should be credited in the report accompanying your submission. In the event of your subsequent selection to take the scheme further, these consultants if approved will be offered separate commissions based on fees negotiated in accordance with local good practice.
