Design Layout should ensure that public can only gain access to main offices via controlled air locks. There should also be suitable access between the various sections of the Consulate-General which will allow staff to visit various sections without the need to go outside the main offices. But if there are design constraints sections C, H, L and I can be excluded from the above arrangement.
Provide, if possible, separate staff entrances/Exits which do not entail transmitting public waiting areas.
Various computer systems exist. But new unix System planned for early 1992.
Trunking and ducting for power and data cables will be required from the computer room to all occupiable offices, together with ample power sockets and clean power supply. Power and data cabling to be kept separate. Provision to be made for all desks to have computer equipment.

All outhoused storage to be secure and to have adequate air conditioning and/or heating.
Containing walls above and adjacent to bullet resistant counters should be constructed to the same bullet resistant standard as the counters.
The nett area shown in column 6 is the nett usable area (window sills do not count as usable space).
Provide wheelchair access to main offices and waiting areas.
Provide if possible easily demountable ceiling panels for visual access to the whole of the Confidential/Secure aregroof space.
Designs and plans will need to be cleared at various stages with Security Department, TSD, ISD, PUSD and post. ALL clearances should be handled through PPU.
This SOR should not be used after March 1992 without clearance from PPU/OED. The SOR should not be altered to take account of changes in staff or facilities without formal clearance with the Planning Officer involved.
